~ limited space ~
This course is a space for the plant people. The medicine folks. The curious hearts who feel the pull to (re)connect with the plants and (re)member to the old ways — while also learning clear, replicable skills that bring confidence, depth, and joy into the practice of herbal medicine making.
Over the course of ten months, you’ll deepen significantly into a wide spectrum of herbal preparations, from tinctures to teas, oils to oxymels, flower essences to smoke medicine. This is for anyone ready to truly root into the craft — whether to enhance your herbal business, grow your skills as a caregiver, or become the medicine person for your home and community.
This course is all about making the most potent, viable, and accessible herbal medicines, and doing so in a way that’s empowering, easy to follow, and repeatable again and again. You’ll learn how to make, dose, and use herbal remedies, as well as how to connect to the energetic and spiritual layers of medicine making.
We’ll explore how to work with what you have — whether that’s herbs in your backyard, forest edge, or a neighbor’s garden , and how to craft medicine in rhythm with the seasons, in connection with the land, and in tune with your intuition.
You’ll also dive into the history, folklore, and science behind the medicines you’re creating , exploring the cross-cultural lineages of herbalism and tracing your own ancestral threads. We’ll honor both the practical and the mystical, the clinical and the intuitive, and hold space for deepening your relationship with the plants and your own purpose.
Alongside monthly live classes, you’ll be held in a supportive community space where you can ask questions, receive feedback, and connect with fellow journeyers.
Join me on this journey into the art and essence of medicine making.

Meet your Instructor
This course is taught by long-time bioregional folk herbalist Callie North, who has been practicing and studying herbalism for 15 years. Callie’s greatest joy and passion is in crafting medicine — a love that has shaped her life and anchored her business, Northsea Apothecary, located on Lopez Island in the Pacific Northwest.
Her specialty lies in creating potent, accessible, and practical herbal medicines — the kind that anyone can learn to make and confidently use. She has studied with many teachers over the years, but much of her wisdom has been honed through trial, error, intuition, and repetition — walking the path of the medicine maker day after day, season after season.
Callie has been teaching herbal medicine for years. She especially loves teaching at ancestral skills gatherings where she and her family spend time each year.
What this class is not
While The Medicine Maker’s Journey is rich in herbal knowledge, hands-on practice, and spirit-led connection to plants, it is not a classical herbalism course.
Traditional or clinical herbalism programs often include:
~ deep study of human anatomy and physiology
~ pathology and herbal contraindications
~ dosage calculations and materia medica memorization
~Extensive case study work and client consultations, intake etc
~Legal regulations and clinical practice setup
~Certification or licensure pathways
These programs are so valuable and rich, often designed for those pursuing clinical practice or a more academic herbal track.
The Medicine Maker’s Journey, on the other hand, is for those who feel the specific call of the cauldron : the artists, folk healers, witches, wildcrafters, gardeners, parents, and plant lovers who want to:
~Craft potent herbal medicine in their own kitchens
~Learn time-tested folk methods alongside ritual and intuition
~Develop personal relationships with plants as teachers and allies
~Create a seasonal apothecary to support their homes, families, and communities
~Explore the magic, storytelling, and beauty of medicine making
~Weave history, energetics, and ancestral wisdom into their preparations
This is a hands-on, heart-led course for people who want to make medicine.
If you’re looking to root into your role as a kitchen herbalist, earth witch, medicine crafter, or wise home healer — you’re in the right place. This is also a very welcome space for clinicians who want to sharpen their medicine making skills.
