Callie Blue Heron North
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, in a small island community where I continue to make my home. In my early adult life, I spent years backpacking and living around the world—learning from different cultures, connecting with my ancestral lands, and deepening my appreciation for life’s wonders.
Following my passions has been a guiding thread throughout my life, leading me on countless adventures and connecting me with a myriad of teachers. This journey has supported me in creating a life rooted in personal meaning, creativity, and a deep connection to the land.
I’m a curiosity devotee, mother, partner, folk herbalist, teacher, creative, singer-songwriter, adventurer, seeker, dive master, and gardener. In early 2016, I founded Northsea Apothecary, a brick-and-mortar and online herbal shop located on Lopez Island, which I continue to run today.
At 27, I became the youngest woman to participate in the History Channel’s ALONE series, completing a 72-day wilderness solo, living entirely off the land. This solo deepened and transformed me in unimaginable ways. I have spent the last 9 years integrating and uncovering all the hidden gems this remarkably profound experience.
I also participated in the spin-off series ALONE: The Skills Challenge and co-hosted/co-produced ALONE: The Official Podcast.
My family and I spend a good portion of the year traveling—whether on camping trips, journeys to the desert and mountains to teach at ancestral skills gatherings, or longer adventures abroad to connect with lands and cultures that offer deeper perspective and insight.
A growing part of my work involves supporting others in reconnecting with their own inner spark—helping them to uncover their passions, release limiting beliefs, and create lives of authenticity, joy, and purpose. Whether through mentorship, group programs, or ceremonial offerings, I love walking alongside people as they remember what lights them up.
I live in a funky (yet cozy) off-grid cabin in the forest with my two dogs, a flock of chickens, and husband, Randy Champagne. Together, we’re raising our two young children—daughter River Selkie and son Indigo Kian Oak.
